The insulation is a water-based foam that is blown in. The product is called Icynene. Amazingly, it took two guys just one day to do the job. It seems pretty obvious to me that this technique results in a tighter house than fiberglass bats. The material is a green build product. It's fireproof and I'm told that it makes for a soundproof house, though we do not have much noise to contend with out here.
